Waltham, Mass. — December 8, 2005 — @Ventures, the venture capital affiliate of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI), announced today that Matt Horton has joined the firm as a Principal in @Ventures V, LLC. The fund, which is @Ventures’ fifth fund, was formed in May 2004 and is primarily focused on investments in companies developing clean energy technologies, including alternative energy, energy efficiency, and water purification and management. Mr. Horton joins @Ventures from Garage Technology Ventures, where he played an active role in that firm’s clean energy investments, including Hoku Scientific (Nasdaq: HOKU), a developer of membranes and assemblies for stationary and automotive fuel cells; Miasole, a manufacturer of thin-film solar cells; and ClearFuels Technologies, a developer of technology for lower-cost production of ethanol.

“Matt has a broad network of contacts and relevant experience in the clean tech investment sector, and he will be a terrific resource to @Ventures as we continue to pursue investment opportunities in this emerging sector,” said Marc Poirier, a Managing Director with @Ventures. With investments in Advent Solar and H2Gen Innovations during the last year, @Ventures began its investment activity in clean tech, adding to the firm’s existing portfolio of Internet and software company investments.
