Waltham, Mass. — January 2, 2007 — @Ventures, the venture capital business of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI), announced today that Rob Day is joining the firm as a Principal in @Ventures V, LLC. The fund, which is @Ventures’ fifth fund, was formed in May 2004 and is primarily focused on investments in companies developing clean technologies, including alternative energy, energy storage and efficiency, and water purification technologies.
Mr. Day joins @Ventures from Expansion Capital Partners, where he played an active role in that venture capital firm’s cleantech investments in Orion Energy Systems, SensorTran, and TigerOptics. Previously, Mr. Day was with Bain & Company, where he was a member of the firm’s Private Equity Group, and with the World Resources Institute, an environmental research organization. He also co-leads the Renewable Energy Business Network (www.rebn.org) and authors the website Cleantech Investing (www.cleantechvc.com), selected as a CNET News.com Blog 100 site.
