“The @Ventures team played a key part in the success that we created at The Generations Network. Their experience and input were invaluable to the management team as we transformed our business over the past several years. Working together was a pleasure.”
- Tim Sullivan, President and CEO, The Generations Network
The @Ventures partnership was formed in 1995 as the venture capital operation of CMGI. The founding partners’ mission was to identify, invest in, and inspire best-of-breed ventures in rapidly-emerging markets, and the firm was among the first investors to recognize the importance of the then-emerging Internet industry, ahead of one of the most dynamic periods of industry growth in history. As technologies and market needs have continued to evolve, @Ventures has continued to seek out those growth opportunities, individuals, and powerful ideas that are truly a step ahead of the curve. The exclusive focus of the firm’s fifth fund, founded in 2004, is on investments in the clean technology sector.
@Ventures’ focus has always been on partnering with our portfolio companies to help them build strong platforms for long-term success. With this approach, we have invested in over 75 companies across a broad range of technology sectors, and played a significant role in some of the greatest technology success stories, including GeoCities (successful IPO, then acquired by Yahoo!), The Generations Network (acquired by Spectrum Equity Investors), Avamar (acquired by EMC), Lycos (successful IPO), eGroups (acquired by Yahoo), Vicinity (successful IPO, then acquired by Microsoft), and Half.com (acquired by eBay).
The current investment team has been focused on clean technology markets since 2003.
